President’s Message – September 2021

Presidents Message

I usually try to focus on the good when I write my message, but this is the hardest President’s message I have ever written. It is with a heavy heart that I must announce the passing of our past President and my longtime friend Joe Graffagnino. Joe was well-liked by all who knew him. I have never met anyone who had a bad thing to say about him. He was always the first to volunteer his help for our club and even other clubs, in any way he could. He has left a big void in all of us and he will be greatly missed. Our heartfelt prayers go out to his family.

Anyone wishing to make a donation in Joe’s name can donate to either Disabled American Veterans or Tunnel to Tower Foundation. These were two of Joe’s favorite originations to donate to.

Our September online meeting was cancelled and will resume on October 8th with Joe Yaiullo, rebooting a 20,000 gal reef tank. You can check our website for future events. (www.basny.org) We are still not allowed to use the Aquarium for meetings, and are hoping we are getting closer to opening up again. Until then we will bring you speakers online, with the help of our board member, David Manual. David has been working hard to keep things going. We thank him for all his hard work, so tune in on October 8th.

Any hobby or aquatic information you hear or read about, please share with our Editor, Ginny Cahill. Please send emails to Ginny at basny.editor@gmail.com. We always need information for our publications. Ginny has done a great job since taking over as editor and we thank her for her dedication. The Aquatica looks awesome.
We are always looking for your input on our events. Please let us know if you want speakers on any aquatic topic. We need our members to be more involved as we are always trying to better our club.
